AAP’s Bhagwant Mann to take oath as Punjab Chief Minister

Guwahati: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Punjab CM designate Bhagwant Mann announced that he will take the oath of office on March 16 in Khatkar Kalan, the hometown of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.

Mann said, “I visited with the Governor, gave him our MLAs’ letters of support, and asserted a claim to form the government. He told me to tell him where we wanted the swearing-in event to take place. On March 16, at 12.30 p.m., it will be held in Bhagat Singh’s hometown of Khatkar Kalan.”

Mann also stated that he will make “historic judgments that have never been made before.”  He explained “People from all around Punjab are expected to attend the ceremony, where they will pay honour to Bhagat Singh. We will have a good cabinet, and historic decisions will be made that have never been made before. As a result, you’ll have to wait.”

The 48-year-old Mann was voted leader of the AAP Legislature Party at a gathering of the party’s MLAs in Mohali on Friday.

Mann has invited Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister, to his swearing-in event.

The AAP won 92 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly. It defeated several heavyweights, including outgoing chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, SAD patriarch Parkash Singh Badal, and former chief minister Amarinder Singh, and its candidates devastated the Congress and the SAD-BSP coalition.

It needs to be mentioned that the Aam Aadmi party will conduct a roadshow in Amritsar tomorrow on its victory.
