AATSA Suspends Student Leader Accused of Torturing Minor Domestic Help

Guwahati, 9th August: The All Assam Tea Student Association (AATSA) has taken swift action by suspending its student leader, Maneswar Saura, following allegations of his involvement in the torture of a minor domestic help. The incident, which occurred in Kakopathar town of Assam’s Tinsukia district, has garnered widespread attention and condemnation.

The minor domestic help was subjected to extreme cruelty, including being poured with boiling water, resulting in severe burn injuries. The accused leader’s wife, a teacher by profession, is also accused of inflicting physical harm on the minor girl. Her visible facial swelling suggests the use of force, possibly through punching or slapping.

The AATSA’s decision to suspend Maneswar Saura reflects a commitment to accountability and ethical conduct. The incident highlights the importance of upholding the rights and well-being of all individuals, particularly vulnerable members of society like minors and domestic workers.

Authorities have registered a case against the husband-wife duo, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the full facts of the incident.
