ABMSU Stages Fierce Protest Against Waqf Amendment Act, Vows to Intensify Agitation

Guwahati, Assam – The All Bodo Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) today held a significant demonstration in staunch opposition to the recently enacted Waqf Amendment Act 2025. The protest saw a large gathering of students voicing their strong disapproval of the legislation and demanding its immediate revocation.

The demonstrators directed their ire towards the ruling BJP government and the Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro. Throughout the protest, slogans reverberated, including forceful calls of “Down with BJP Government” and “Down with Pramod Boro,” underscoring the student body’s deep dissatisfaction with the political handling of the issue.

A central demand of the ABMSU is an immediate cessation of governmental intervention concerning Waqf properties. The organization passionately advocated for the complete liberation of these properties from any form of administrative control, asserting the right of the community to manage its own affairs. The sit-in protest became a focal point for ABMSU members to articulate their unwavering stance against the amendment.

Looking ahead, ABMSU leaders have announced a sustained campaign of protests across multiple districts within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in the days to come. Furthermore, they issued a strong warning that should their demands remain unmet, the student body is prepared to escalate their agitation to the national capital, Delhi, in a determined effort to secure the complete repeal of the Waqf Amendment Act 2025.
