Accomplice in Guwahati Double Murder Case Granted Bail
Guwahati, 12th October: In a surprising development in the chilling double murder case that shook Guwahati earlier this year, one of the accomplices of the prime accused, Bondona Kalita, has been granted bail by the Gauhati High Court.
The accused, Arup Deka, who had been in judicial custody since March 4, has now been released from jail after being granted bail.
The case involves a gruesome murder in which Bondona Kalita, along with her lover and another friend, was accused of killing her husband and mother-in-law. The bodies were dismembered, and the body parts were stored in a refrigerator. The prime accused’s extramarital relationship is believed to be the motive behind the murders.
Assam police had drafted a 1,600-page charge sheet against Bondona Kalita and her accomplices, Arup Deka and Dhanti Deka, three months after the murders. The mother-son duo, the victims in the case, had been missing since August the previous year, and the case came to light in February when Bondona Kalita was arrested.
As of now, the prime accused, Bondona Kalita, and her other accomplice, Dhanti Deka, remain in judicial custody, while Arup Deka has been granted bail. The case continues to be a harrowing reminder of the complexities involved in criminal investigations and legal proceedings.
