Accused of being lesbians, 2 women beaten & molested in West Bengal
Guwahati: Two women in Murshidabad of West Bengal were assaulted, tortured, and harassed by one of their relatives because they were thought to be lesbians.
On Monday, the duo made a police report against two of their family members and one neighbour.
They disclosed to the police that the accused had attempted to rape them in addition to beating them.
According to the victims, the incident happened on October 26.
The family of one of the victims visited the room at around 11 a.m. and inquired as to why the two victims were sleeping in the same bed.
A native from the neighbourhood also accompanied the relatives.
The three began beating the females when the girls clarified that they were merely friends.
The accused abused them and used hot rods to burn their private parts.
The girls claimed that they also attempted to rape them and undress them.
They also informed the authorities that the accused had threatened to reveal their romance if they disclosed the abuse they had endured.
The Malda Police have detained one of the three, while the other two are still on the run.
