Guwahati, 8th August: Samarjyoti Bharali, the individual accused of subjecting his elderly mother to unimaginable cruelties, has reportedly been released by Dispur police merely hours after being detained in connection to the case. The abrupt release has raised eyebrows and sparked concern among the community.
Bharali’s release reportedly occurred around 12 am late Monday night, marking a swift turn of events after his earlier detention during the day. His father has come forward to assert that his son is innocent and hasn’t committed any wrongdoing, leading to his release.
This shocking case has left the community in disbelief as to how an educated son could treat his mother with such inhumane brutality. A video depicting the incident has emerged, capturing the distressing scene of Bharali mercilessly beating his elderly mother, followed by pouring scalding hot water on her frail body. The woman was also tied to the porch, exposing her to the scorching heat.
This harrowing incident unfolded in the vicinity of Guwahati’s Hengerabari area, near the District Commissioner’s Office. At the moment, the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) is treating Bharali’s mother.
