Activist-politician Akhil Gogoi Quashes Reports Of Joining AAP
Guwahati: Raijor Dal leader and MLA from Sivasagar, Akhil Gogoi denied joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday, saying the claims were false.
Gogoi clarified his position on the topic, claiming that the claims were “completely false” and that he had no plans to join the AAP.
He said, “I am the president of Raijor Dal, Assam’s most popular and progressive regional party. We are battling for the Assamese nation’s self-respect and self-determination.”
“We are proud of our long-term aim to make Assam one of the world’s most developed areas. We’ve been resisting the RSS-BJP regime’s communal fascism,” Gogoi added.
He further said that his team was working hard to expose Assam’s government’s corruption, and he sought a CBI investigation into the purported PPE kit fraud involving the family of Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Meanwhile, the state coordinator for AAP in Assam, Bhaben Choudhury reacted to the reports saying, “The story of Akhil Gogoi joining Aam Aadmi Party is fake.”
Choudhury went on to declare that neither the state nor the central section of the party had made any formal pronouncements on the subject, and that the stories should be dismissed.
Choudhury further claimed that the claims were made up by the opposition to mislead the party’s goals, despite the fact that the AAP had not to form an alliance in the state.
An absolute fake news that I am about to join @AamAadmiParty has come to my notice. I am the president of the most popular and progressive regional party of Assam, @RaijorDal. We are fighting for the self-respect & self- determination of the Assamese nation.
