Adipurush: Ayodhya Ram Temple Head Priest Demands Ban On Film
Guwahati: The head priest of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya urged that the film “Adipurush” be immediately banned on the grounds that it inaccurately depicted the gods.
The head priest Satyendra Das said that the portrayal of Ravana is wholly unacceptable and improper.
“The way Ravana has been portrayed is wholly unacceptable and inappropriate. We urge that the movie be immediately banned through the media “On the occasion of the yearly Vijay Rath Yatra in Ayodhya, Das stated.
He continued, “Adipurush does not depict Lord Rama and Hanuman as portrayed in the epic and thus goes against their dignity.
There has been negative feedback since the release of the film’s 1.46-minute teaser on Sunday.
The high-profile Ramayana remake, which stars “Baahubali” actor Prabhas as Lord Ram in the title role, also stars Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, a demon king with ten heads. Netizens have criticized the filmmakers for what they claim is the apparent Islamization of Ravana, who has a beard, menacing eyes, and a buzz cut. A lot of people have objected to how Hanuman is portrayed as having a beard, no moustache, and leather clothing.
Adipurush’s subpar visual effects were also slammed by several social media users, who called it a “big letdown” for a movie with a rumoured budget of Rs 500 crore and one of the most costly Indian productions ever.
The film, which also features Kriti Sanon as Sita, is set to debut in theatres on January 12, 2023.
