ADRE: Assam Gears Up for Second Phase of Direct Recruitment Exam for Grade III Posts
Guwahati, 28th September: The second phase of the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) 2024 for Grade III posts is set to take place this Sunday across the state, with authorities implementing special measures to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the exam.
According to an official statement, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will operate six pairs of special trains to accommodate candidates attending the exam. This arrangement is part of efforts to facilitate easier travel for the large number of applicants expected to sit for the test.
The first phase of the written exam for Grade III posts was held on September 15, during which mobile internet services were suspended across Assam for over three hours to prevent cheating and ensure fairness. A similar approach is expected for the upcoming exam.
The second phase will include written tests for both bachelor degree-level posts and HSLC-level (driver) posts under Grade III. Admit cards for the candidates have already been issued, along with specific instructions to ensure compliance with the guidelines. Candidates have been advised to verify the location of their exam center a day prior and to arrive at least 90 minutes before the start of the exam for thorough security checks.
Newly revised instructions include the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Home and Political Department, especially concerning frisking procedures following allegations of improper conduct during the first phase of the exam. Several female candidates had raised complaints about inappropriate frisking, prompting authorities to enhance safety and security measures. Separate enclosures for female candidates will now be provided, with Anganwadi or ASHA workers stationed near frisking areas to ensure the process is respectful and professional.
For efficiency, candidates have been asked to wear half-sleeve attire and slippers instead of shoes. In the event of any inappropriate frisking, candidates are instructed to report to the center in-charge immediately.
A total of 18.50 lakh candidates have applied for various Grade III posts, reflecting the large-scale participation across the state. Following the exam, candidates will be allowed to take their question booklets with them. Senior officers have been appointed as central observers to ensure a smooth examination process.
The NFR release confirmed that the six special trains would complete 12 trips to facilitate both inbound and outbound journeys for candidates. Additional written tests for Grade IV posts, which have seen 13.70 lakh applicants, will be held on two separate dates, with detailed arrangements to be announced.
The first ADRE, organized by the State Level Recruitment Commission, took place in August 2022, during which mobile internet services were suspended for four hours across nearly all districts to maintain fairness during the exam. This rigorous approach is being repeated to ensure the integrity of the current examination process.
