Guwahati: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a protest in Coimbatore against the arrest of former minister D Jayakumar.
According to reports, they also protested against alleged malpractices in the local body elections.
AIADMK leader and former Minister D Jayakumar, was arrested earlier this week for allegedly assaulting a DMK worker and parading him shirtless during the urban local body election on February 19.
Moreover, he was denied bail by the Principal Sessions Judge (PSJ) on Friday.
It may be mentioned that the complainant is still in hospital and the investigation is at the preliminary stage, the judge said and dismissed Jayakumar’s plea for bail.
