AIDWA Held a Protest Against Female Criminality
Guwahati: The increase in crimes against women in the state has alarmed the Tripura’s Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) women wing, known as the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA).
On Wednesday, AIDWA organised a protest march with the help of a number of supporters to call for a stop to the rising number of crimes against women in the state, such as rape, gang-rape, post-rape murder, domestic abuse, and many others.
Speaking to media representatives, AIDWA state secretary Jharna Das Baidya charged that the BJP-led administration was ignoring the urgent problem and claimed that the incidence of crimes against women had risen when the Saffron Party assumed office in 2018.
“Anarchy is prevailing in the state. Crime against women, minors has increased unprecedentedly. Dead-bodies are recovered every now and then. Even police have miserably failed to curb these issues”, she said.
Further, Das Baidya claimed that the leaders of the ruling party shield the majority of the criminals responsible for heinous crimes from prosecution.
“We strongly condemn such incidents and demand strict action against criminals. If the government fails to stop such incidents, we will organize a massive protest in coming days across the state”, she added.
