AIMIM chief Owaisi Criticized NCP for backing NDPP-BJP coalition Govt in Nagaland

Guwahati: All India Majlis-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which is headed by Sharad Pawar, for lending its support to the NDPP-BJP-led government in Nagaland.

The MP from Hyderabad slammed the NCP for backing the coalition with the BJP and said, “If ‘Sharad’ was ‘Shadab’ he’d be called B team & be an untouchable for ‘seculars’. I’ve never supported BJP govt & never will but this is the 2nd time NCP supported BJP & it may not be the last”.

Asaduddin Owaisi said that Sharad Pawar decided to accept the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio “in the greater interest of the state of Nagaland” after NCP Northeast in-charge Narendra Verma made the statement. The Nagaland NCP leader added that Sharad Pawar had given the go-ahead to the notion of joining other political parties that backed CM Neiphiu Rio.

The newly elected party MLAs and its local unit, according to a statement issued by the NCP, think that the party should be a part of the government for the greater good of the state. However, the BJP was not named in the statement despite winning 12 seats in the election.

Additionally, Neiphiu Rio’s government includes five BJP ministers. On Walk 7, he received approval for a fifth term as head priest from a bureau that included five BJP members and seven priests from the NDPP.

The NCP performed the best among the opposition parties, taking seven out of the twelve seats it ran for.
