Air India Express Expands Reach in Northeast India, Boosts Flight Operations from Guwahati, Agartala, and Imphal
Air India Express, a leading low-cost carrier, has announced a significant expansion of its flight operations from key cities in Northeast India. As part of its winter schedule, the airline will be increasing the frequency of its flights from Guwahati, Agartala, and Imphal, offering enhanced connectivity to both domestic and international destinations.
Guwahati, the gateway to the Northeast, will witness a substantial surge in Air India Express flights, with the weekly operations increasing from 63 to 106. This expansion will provide direct connectivity to eight domestic destinations, including Agartala, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, and Kolkata. Additionally, passengers can avail one-stop connectivity to 18 domestic and six international destinations.
Imphal, the capital of Manipur, will also benefit from the airline’s expansion, with weekly flights increasing from 14 to 34. This significant boost in operations will further strengthen Imphal’s connectivity to various domestic destinations.
Agartala, the capital of Tripura, which was recently added to Air India Express’ network in September 2024, will see a notable increase in flight frequency from 14 to 21 weekly. The airline will offer direct flights to Guwahati and Kolkata, as well as one-stop connectivity to 11 domestic destinations.
Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India Express, expressed optimism about the expansion, stating, “This expansion will not only facilitate easier travel for those wishing to explore the beautiful Northeast region but also strengthen Guwahati’s role as a vital link to the rest of the country. With our growing fleet of over 90 aircraft, we are well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of emerging Indian cities.”
