Air India Facilitates Evacuation Amid Bangladesh Political Turmoil

National Desk, 7th August: In response to the escalating political unrest in Bangladesh, Air India has orchestrated the evacuation of 205 individuals, including six infants, from Dhaka to Delhi via a special charter flight early today. The flight was arranged on short notice despite significant infrastructure challenges at Dhaka Airport on the night of August 6.

Additionally, a separate special flight brought 190 staff members of the Indian High Commission back to Delhi, although over 20 personnel remain in Dhaka. The evacuation flights were necessary as Air India had previously canceled its regular services to Dhaka, alongside IndiGo and Vistara, due to the violent protests affecting the region.

The situation in Bangladesh has been dire, with over 20 leaders of the Awami League and their family members found dead amid widespread violence. In Satkhira, at least 10 people were killed on Monday as properties of Awami League leaders were vandalized and looted.
