AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal Embroiled in Controversy Over Misogynistic Remarks
Guwahati: A complaint has been lodged against Badruddin Ajmal, the chief of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and a Member of Parliament, by Momi Roy Choudhury, the General Secretary of Jatiya Nari Bahini.
The women’s wing of Raijor Dal filed the complaint in Bongaigaon, Assam, in response to Ajmal’s alleged derogatory remarks against Gitashree Tamuli, a professor and the wife of Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi.
The remarks sparked widespread outrage, with Jatiya Nari Bahini condemning Ajmal’s statements as “unacceptable and derogatory”. When addressing the media, Ajmal made further inflammatory comments, stating that Tamuli is “old”, implying that her age makes her less worthy of his attention. He went on to say that if she were younger, he might have had something to say about her.
Momi Roy Choudhury accused Ajmal of attempting to regain relevance in Assam’s political landscape through deliberate and strategic manoeuvring. She likened his tactics to those of a “cunning fox”, alleging that his goal is to maintain a high profile despite his dwindling political influence.
