AIUDF MLA Questions Abrupt Halt to Pahalgam Anti-Terror Operation
Guwahati, Assam – All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) legislator Rafiqul Islam has voiced significant apprehension regarding the abrupt cessation of the counter-terrorism operation initiated after the recent militant attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the tragic loss of civilian lives.
Islam, while conveying his deep sorrow over the civilian casualties, reaffirmed the nation’s solidarity with the Indian Army in their fight against terrorism. He vehemently condemned the attack, asserting that the operation should have persisted “till the end” to ensure the complete eradication of extremist elements.
The AIUDF MLA raised questions about the timing and reasoning behind the sudden halt in operations. He suggested that recent pronouncements by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the U.S. President may have inadvertently contributed to uncertainty surrounding the status of the counter-terrorism efforts.
Islam urged the central government to provide an unambiguous statement clarifying whether the anti-terror mission has indeed concluded. “Extremism must be uprooted from its roots,” he emphatically stated, underscoring the crucial need for resolute and decisive measures to combat terrorism effectively.
