AIUDF Points At Assam Govt New Education Policy

Guwahati: The new education strategy adopted by the Assam government has drawn criticism from the All-India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) for not provincializing new institutions.

“More than 400 instructors of enterprise schools have committed suicide in the last decade, and 1,000 additional teachers have resigned without receiving wages,” claimed MLA and party general secretary Animul Islam.

“More than 23,000 teaching and non-teaching staff members are employed in the state’s 2,659 venture schools that have not yet been provincialized,” he added.

He added that AIUDF would support the venture school teachers in their fight and would keep bringing up the issue inside and outside of the state assembly.

It should be mentioned that the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, had earlier ordered the school education department to begin teaching science and mathematics in English from grades 6 to 12, in addition to continuing to teach both courses in Assamese.

The CM had given the order to complete the school merger in accordance with the RTE regulations within a predetermined timeframe.

CM Sarma had also given the order to launch a special Gyanjyoti programme to students at 97 Tea Garden Adarsh Vidyalayas during Durga Puja.
