AIUDF To Contest in 3 Lok Sabha Seats for 2024 Elections in Assam
Guwahati, 10th November: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), led by Badruddin Ajmal, has declared its intention to contest in three out of the 14 seats in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Assam. AIUDF MLA Rafiqul Islam specified that the party plans to focus on the Dhubri, Karimganj, and Nagaon Lok Sabha constituencies.
Rafiqul Islam expressed confidence in AIUDF’s readiness for the elections and emphasized that the party would actively contest against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He highlighted the significant vote bank AIUDF holds, especially in the targeted constituencies, and asserted that supporters in other Lok Sabha seats would not vote in favor of the BJP.
Regarding the United Opposition Forum consisting of 12 political parties in Assam, led by the Congress, Islam mentioned that the forum was formed but not entirely united. AIUDF was not invited to join the opposition political parties block INDIA.
Earlier statements by AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal indicated that the party would provide unconditional support to the INDIA bloc to form the next government at the center in the upcoming elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, AIUDF won one seat and secured a 7% vote share in Assam.
