Aizawl Man Busted: CBI’s Digital Net Traps Alleged Child Abuser
AIZAWL, Mizoram – A sophisticated digital dragnet deployed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has led to the arrest of a man in Aizawl, Mizoram, on grave charges of sexually assaulting a minor and allegedly disseminating the horrific act online.
The arrest on June 4th follows an intensive, high-tech investigation that underscored the agency’s growing prowess in combating online child sexual abuse
The accused, identified as Lalrampana, found himself at the epicenter of a relentless CBI pursuit that leveraged cutting-edge cyber intelligence, advanced forensic tools, and critical international cooperation.
The agency, after registering a case on May 30th, swiftly pinpointed his location, culminating in a decisive raid on his premises. During the raid, incriminating digital devices were seized, setting the stage for further revelations.
CBI officials allege that Lalrampana was actively engaged in the illegal creation, collection, storage, and uploading of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), a flagrant violation of existing laws designed to protect vulnerable children.
“Subsequent forensic analysis uncovered a substantial volume of CSAM in the form of images and videos,” a CBI Spokesperson confirmed. “These materials were meticulously corroborated with data from Interpol’s International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database, providing crucial links. Further confirmation came from Cyber Tipline Reports (CTRs) generated by Google and shared with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs.”
The forensic deep-dive into the seized digital content painted a chilling picture: evidence unequivocally revealed that a child had been sexually assaulted by the accused within Aizawl. Further investigation has uncovered that Lalrampana allegedly exploited and threatened the child to facilitate the creation of the abhorrent CSAM.
Notably, this critical case was detected suo motu by the CBI, meaning the agency initiated the investigation on its own accord. “Neither the victim nor the family had reported the incidents to any law enforcement agency prior to CBI’s intervention,” the statement highlighted, underscoring the proactive and vital role played by the CBI’s cyber intelligence capabilities in bringing this alleged predator to justice. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the full extent of Lalrampana’s activities and ensure justice for the victim.
