Guwahati: Assam Police recovered a rifle and several live rounds of ammunition from Udalguri on Friday as part of their ongoing fight against illegal weapons.
Authorities reportedly found an AK 56 rifle at Mazbat in the Udalguri district Assam during a search operation against illegal firearms and weapons.
Along with the AK-56 rifle, 20 live rounds of ammunition were also recovered from the spot. The operation was carried out at Sikaridanga, Mazbat, according to officials.
Moreover, the weapons were recovered buried in a pit, they further added. An investigation into the incident has been initiated by the police.
