Akasa Air Begins Flight Service in Guwahati-Agartala Route
Guwahati: The brand-new Indian airline Akasa Air launched its first flight on the Guwahati-Agartala route on October 21. The airline has started operating direct flights between the two locations to give its customers non-stop connectivity.
The first flight, which was sent off by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha at Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram airport, reportedly carried 107 passengers in all.
Akasa Air has been steadily growing its business. It is currently operating flights between eight cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, and Agartala, along a total of eleven non-stop itineraries.
Belson Coutinho, a co-founder of Akasa Air, claims that the carrier is a low-cost start-up that now runs 7 aircraft to 17 different locations and is in the process of acquiring 10 additional aircraft. Akasa Air completed 75 days of commercial operations on Friday.
Akasa Air offers smooth one-stop connectivity between Bengaluru and Agartala with its first Through Flight product, eliminating the need for an aircraft change at Guwahati. The airline has also introduced two extra double daily non-stop flights on the Bengaluru-Chennai route, further enhancing its pan-India network connectivity.
The airline now has 30 daily flights and will increase that to 44 by the end of October. Additionally, the airline anticipates reaching 300 weekly flights by the end of October 2022. Two aircraft were used when Akasa Air began its commercial operations, and six aircraft have since been added.
It will continue to expand its fleet in order to develop a strong pan-Indian presence with a focus on connecting major cities and metro areas to tier 2 and tier 3 routes. By the end of March 2023, Akasa Air’s fleet size will be 18 aircraft, and over the following four years, the airline will add another 54 aircraft, bringing its total fleet size to 72 aircraft.
