Guwahati: Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary suspended Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on Wednesday for the length of Question Hour for “disrupting procedures.”
Two marshals led Gogoi out of the House.
The Speaker rejected the legislator from Sivasagar’s request to add a question about the Education Department.
The MLA complained that his voice was being muffled; as a result, Daimary suspended him for the remainder of Question Hour.
“The rules of ‘andolan’ (protest) cannot be allowed inside the House. It has its own set of rules,” the Speaker asserted.
