Akhil Gogoi’s Campaign Gains Momentum Among Minorities Ahead of Panchayat Polls

Assam — As the second phase of the Panchayat elections approaches, Shivsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi is emerging as a formidable force, particularly in minority-dominated areas of Assam. Known for his fiery rhetoric and grassroots activism, Gogoi’s campaign trail has taken on the scale and fervour of a state assembly race, drawing massive crowds and shifting political conversations across constituencies.

In recent days, Gogoi has ramped up his efforts, crisscrossing 12 to 13 locations daily with relentless energy. His speeches, marked by sharp political commentary and direct attacks on rival parties, have resonated with voters disillusioned by mainstream political narratives. His campaign stops have seen overwhelming turnouts, signaling a growing wave of support from sections of the electorate traditionally aligned with other parties.

The MLA has taken aim at Congress, alleging corruption in ticket distribution, and has not spared BJP or AIUDF either, branding both as communal outfits. In a dramatic declaration, he vowed to “drown” both parties politically in the Brahmaputra come 2026, and even targeted Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with scathing language, predicting a humiliating downfall.

Political observers note that Gogoi’s fiery tone and unfiltered style are striking a chord with youth and minority voters, amplifying his appeal far beyond his home constituency. As the Panchayat elections heat up, all eyes are now on how this grassroots surge might influence Assam’s broader political landscape.
