Guwahati: Akhilesh Yadav was unanimously chosen on Thursday to lead the Samajwadi Party for a third time in a row, said the party’s secretary general Ram Gopal Yadav.
Ram Gopal Yadav stated that Akhilesh Yadav was the sole contender for the position when announcing the election results at the Samajwadi Party national convention in this city’s Ramabai Ambedkar stadium, PTI reported.
Akhilesh Yadav succeeded his father Mulayam Singh Yadav as SP president. He held the position for the first time at a party emergency meeting in January 2017 and again in October at the party’s national convention in Agra.
