All international arrivals to undergo seven-day home quarantine

Guwahati: Following the increasing number of Omicron variant of Covid-19, the Centre has issued new guidelines for all international arrivals.

In the fresh Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the government has made seven-day home quarantine mandatory for all international arrivals and an RT-PCR test on the eighth day.  The guidelines will come into force from January 11 and will remain effective till further government orders.

However, the passengers after the RT-PCR test have to upload their result on the “Air Suvidha” Portal and the state governments will be required to monitor the test results and they will immediately self-isolate and report to their nearest health facility or call National helpline number (1075)/ State Helpline Number

The rules laid out by the Union Health Ministry said that if they test positive, they will be sent to an isolation facility and their samples will be sent for genome testing.

If the passengers test negative, they will self-monitor their health for next seven days.

If anyone is proven to have submitted false information, they will face criminal charges.

Meanwhile the passengers seated near them and cabin crew will be treated as contacts.

The participants will be required to give travel records over the last 14 days as well as a negative RT-PCR analysis that is no more than 72 hours old, according to the statement.

The travelers have been requested to sign a document stating that they will follow all COVID standards set by the Assam government. Before embarking on the travel, the undertaking must be submitted by airlines on the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s portal.

For flights from countries that are not on the “at-risk” list, two per cent of the passengers picked randomly, will be tested on arrival.

The updated list of nations from where travelers would need to follow additional measures on arrival, including post-arrival testing are countries in Europe including The United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, China, Ghana, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Hong Kong, Israel, Congo, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia and Zambia.
