Allahabad High Court Allows Survey of Shahi Idgah Complex in Mathura Amidst Ownership Dispute

National Desk, 14th December: The Allahabad High Court has taken a significant step in the dispute over the Shahi Idgah complex in Mathura by granting permission for a survey of the historical and religious site.

This decision comes in the wake of a longstanding disagreement between Hindu and Muslim communities regarding ownership claims.

The court’s verdict followed the reservation of judgment on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that advocated for the removal of the mosque within the complex, asserting that it was constructed on the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

While dismissing the plea for the removal of the mosque, the court maintained the status quo, allowing the mosque to remain on the site.

The Shahi Idgah Mosque stands on a location with historical significance, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna and the site of temples repeatedly destroyed throughout history.

The court’s decision to permit a survey opens new avenues for understanding the complex’s historical and religious dimensions.
