Allegations of Harassment Surface Against BJP Leader in Tezpur

Guwahati, 14th August: A distressing case of alleged mental and physical harassment has come to light in Tezpur, Assam, where a woman has accused her husband, identified as Parash Bhuyan, of subjecting her to torment due to her inability to conceive. Parash Bhuyan holds a position as a leader within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The victim, identified as Brinta Saikia Bhuyan, has reported enduring years of both physical and psychological abuse at the hands of her husband and in-laws. The torment, stemming from her inability to bear a child, took a toll on her mental and emotional well-being.

Brinta Saikia Bhuyan revealed that she was forced to sleep in a separate room, prepare her meals separately, and had to fend for herself for survival. She alleged that despite reaching out to the police for assistance, her pleas were met with indifference, potentially due to her husband’s political affiliation.

The victim expressed her frustration, stating that her husband would invoke his affiliation with the BJP as a shield against any potential repercussions.

This disturbing case underscores the importance of addressing instances of domestic abuse and harassment with sensitivity and urgency. It serves as a reminder that no individual, regardless of their social or political standing, should be exempt from accountability for their actions.

As this case unfolds, it is hoped that appropriate measures are taken to ensure justice for the victim and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
