Alleged Land Mafia Injured in Police Encounter in Guwahati
Guwahati, 27th November: An alleged land mafia sustained a bullet injury to his right leg during a confrontation with the police in a late-night police operation in Guwahati.
The alleged land mafia has been identified as Ramen Madahi.
Madahi, a resident of Lalung Gaon in Lakhra, is reportedly a known land grabber and kingpins in the land mafia racket.
The incident unfolded when a joint team from the Crime Branch and Basistha Police Station conducted searches based on information provided by previously arrested individuals to locate additional suspects.
Madahi, upon learning about the police operation, attempted to escape but was shot in the leg, preventing his getaway.
Following the encounter, the injured individual was admitted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and is currently receiving treatment under police guard.
The police action aims to curb illegal land grabbing activities in the region.
Further investigations are underway to dismantle the land mafia network.
