Amid Flash Flood: Mizoram to provide Drinking Water To Assam
Guwahati: The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Zoramthanga on Sunday said that the Central Young Mizo Association was its route to Assam to distribute drinking water due to the state’s recent flooding.
Zoramthanga stated that Mizoram will provide all assistance to its neighbouring state during such times.
The Mizoram CM tweeted, “The Central Young Mizo Association are on their way to deliver drinking waters to our neighbouring #AssamFloods2022 victims. The Govt. of Mizoram will ensure all possible help from the end. Mizoram will always be with #Assam in this trying time.”
Assam’s condition has slightly improved, but the floods that followed torrential rains continue to afflict more than 33.03 lakh people in 28 districts of the state.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 117 people have already died in the state this year as a result of floods and landslides, with 100 of the fatalities occurring from floods alone.
Meanwhile, 8.76 lakh people have been affected in Barpeta district alone, followed by 5.08 lakh people in Nagaon, 4.01 lakh in Kamrup, 2.76 lakh people in Cachar, 2.16 in Karimganj, 1.84 lakh in Dhubri, and 1.70 lakh people in Darrang, the report added.
Reportedly, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has sent out seven different types of fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft for relief operations in various locations.
