Guwahati: Guwahati’s Amingaon district is witnessing a surge of activity as the construction of its new international cricket stadium advances, with a targeted completion date of December 2025.
Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, personally assessed the site today, confirming that the facility is on track for a grand inauguration in February 2026, marking a significant milestone for sports enthusiasts in the region.
The stadium is designed to host the full spectrum of international cricket, from Test matches to T20 showdowns, promising a vibrant hub for global sporting events.

Beyond cricket, the stadium is envisioned as a versatile venue, primed to host large-scale musical concerts and cultural festivals, thereby enriching the state’s entertainment and tourism landscape.
This project aligns with Assam’s broader strategy to bolster its sports infrastructure, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming National Games. Chief Minister Sarma emphasized the state’s preparedness, highlighting the construction of world-class facilities. In a parallel development, he announced that the reconstruction of Guwahati’s historic Nehru Stadium will commence next month, further enhancing the city’s sporting capabilities.
