Amit Shah Asserts Issues Of Northeast Will Be Solved By 2024
Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that the North-eastern states long-standing problems will be resolved by 2024, adding that the BJP had found a “permanent address” there.
Shah made the comment during his talk on the political resolve at the BJP national executive meeting.
In March, the Centre had removed AFPSA from 15 police station areas in seven districts of Nagaland, 15 police station areas in six districts of Manipur and 23 districts entirely and one district partially in Assam.
Following this, the administrations of Assam and Meghalaya formally agreed to terminate their 50-year-old border dispute here in the capital. Two months after the chief ministers of the two states gave Shah a draught resolution on January 31 for the MHA to review and adopt, Assam and Meghalaya signed the accord.
Speaking on the speech of Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “It’s been a journey for us in the north-east, and the Home Minister told us he was glad that we now have a permanent address in the Northeast and that we are going nowhere.”
The assam Chief minister said that Amit Shah had stated that the opposition’s opposition to the government’s reforms was the cause of the delay, but that the administration was still committed to enacting the Citizenship Amendment Act.
“You are aware that the Opposition has raised concerns about a number of the Modi government’s policies, including the CAA. Despite the delay, we remain devoted to adopting CAA and the rules will be developed ” Sarma added.
He further detailed to outline the BJP’s strategies for resolving the issues facing the Northeast.
“Amit Shah spoke on the BJP’s experience in the north-east and the changes that have occurred after the establishment of the Modi government in 2014… We also talked about how, in around 60% of the areas, the AFSPA has been eliminated from the northeast region. Additionally, he stated that all problems in the northeast will be resolved by 2024 and that there won’t be any more fault lines there.
