Amit Shah Meets CMs Of Assam & Arunachal To Discuss Border Issues
Guwahati: The Chief Ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss matters pertaining to the state boundaries on Thursday in New Delhi.
Shah immediately scheduled a meeting with the chief ministers of Arunachal Pradesh (Pema Khandu) and Assam (Himanta Biswa Sarma) to resolve border-related concerns with the Northeastern states.
The CMs and the Union home minister met at the Assam House in Delhi before the important meeting.
“We are resolved to peacefully resolving all the long-standing concerns once and for all,” CM Sarma stated.
It should be noted that the two neighbouring northeastern states agreed to reduce the number of disputed villages from 123 to 86 when they signed the “Namsai Declaration” in July.
The governments of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh pledged to work to settle border-related disputes by September 15 in accordance with the Namsai declaration.
The two states’ disputed territories were also visited by the regional committees that were established after the deal was signed.
