Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that 82 percent of the provisions under the Bodo Accord have been implemented, reaffirming the government’s commitment to completing the accord’s full execution within the next two years.

Addressing the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) at Bodofa Fwthar in Dotma, Kokrajhar, he assured that the completion of the accord would cement lasting peace in Bodoland.

Shah highlighted the government’s ongoing initiatives to support sports talent from Bodoland, emphasizing efforts to ensure direct participation of athletes from the region in the Olympics. He underscored the transformative impact of the Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) Accord and credited ABSU for its instrumental role in the peace process. “If there was no ABSU, the Bodo Accord would not have been possible, and there would be no peace in Bodoland,” he stated, acknowledging the union’s contributions to stability and development in the region.

Expressing his gratitude to ABSU for inviting him to the conference, Shah praised the union’s leadership in shaping the peace process and fostering socio-economic growth. He reiterated the government’s dedication to preserving Bathou Dharma, the traditional Bodo religion, and ensuring its recognition at the national level.
