Amit Shah to Arrive In Tripura Today As BJP Preps For Assembly Polls
Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to arrive in Tripura on Wednesday night as the ruling BJP gears up for the assembly polls.
Shah had been expected to be in the state on Thursday but a top official claimed his visit had been rescheduled.
“Shah will now reach the state around 10 pm on Wednesday by an Air Force plane,” he said.
According to the official, he would spend the night at the State Guest House under strict security.
Shah will lead off two BJP Rath Jatras throughout the state during the one-day visit. To launch the first one, he will likely first travel to Dharmanagar in North Tripura, which is around 190 kilometres from the state capital Agartala, according to party leaders.
Later, to launch the second Rath Jatra, he will travel to Sabroom in South Tripura which is close to the Bangladesh border.
Then, he is supposed to depart the country. But it was not immediately clear why his arrival had been rescheduled.
Chief Minister Manik Saha travelled to Dharmanagar and Sabroom with Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury to inspect the party’s mega-show preparations ahead of the upcoming February assembly elections.
Several public gatherings and rallies have been scheduled as a part of the two Rath Jatras, according to party leaders.
The national president of the BJP JP Nadda is expected to attend the program’s last day on January 12.
