Amit Shah to Visit Assam for Inauguration of New Raj Bhavan, Felicitate Panchayat Members
Guwahati – Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to visit Guwahati on August 29 for a day-long itinerary packed with key events, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The visit underscores the Central government’s focus on the state and its development, with a blend of official inaugurations and political outreach.
The highlight of Shah’s visit will be the inauguration of the newly-constructed Raj Bhavan in Guwahati, a project that is seen as a symbol of the state’s infrastructural progress. Following the inauguration ceremony, the Union Home Minister will address a convention of the newly elected NDA panchayat members. The event, as per CM Sarma, is a felicitation programme for the members who secured a decisive victory in the recent local body elections, reflecting the public’s trust in the alliance. Shah will attend the convention as the chief guest, reinforcing the party’s commitment to grassroots-level leadership and governance.
Later in the evening, the Union Home Minister will take part in the inaugural function of the birth centenary celebrations of Golap Borbora, Assam’s first non-Congress Chief Minister. This event holds significant political and historical weight, as it honours a figure who played a pivotal role in the state’s political landscape. After a full day of engagements, Shah will depart for New Delhi, bringing his high-profile visit to a close.
