Andrew Flintoff, Former England All-Rover Airlifted to Hospital Following a Car Accident

Guwahati: Former all-rounder for England Andrew Flintoff had to be flown to the hospital due to an accident during filming for the BBC show Top Gear at the Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey, England.

“Freddie was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning with crew medics attending the scene immediately. He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course,” Sky Sports quoted.

Before assisting his team in reclaiming the urn four years later, Flintoff helped England win the Ashes in 2005 for the first time in 18 years. In the annals of English cricket, this feat is unique.

He made his Test cricket retirement announcement at the end of the 2009 Ashes series. In 2010, he also called it quits on a career in other facets of the game. He last boxed professionally in Manchester in November 2012, winning a unanimous decision against American Richard Dawson.

Since 2019, the father-of-four has served as a Top Gear presenter. According to a Sky Sports report from the time, “You don’t get the chance to work at both of your favourite jobs very frequently, but I’m now fortunate enough to say that I will. I’ve always had a love for automobiles, so I’m thrilled to be joining the Top Gear crew.”

Since starting to work on the show, Flintoff has been involved in accidents before.

In February 2019, the presenter collided with a market stand in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, leading to a minor accident.

When he was driving a three-wheeled vehicle at a claimed speed of 124 mph while filming for Top Gear at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire that same year, he had a second accident but managed to escape without injury.
