Another Student Leader Arrested in DU Ragging Case
Guwahati: Police arrested another accused in the Dibrugarh University ragging incident on Tuesday night.
The student leader who was arrested has been identified as Subhrajit Baruah.
He was arrested from Tingkhong in the Dibrugarh district of Assam.
Baruah was on the run after his name was involved in the ragging incident of Dibrugarh University student Anand Sarma.
Meanwhile, 22 university students have been expelled for their alleged involvement in the ragging case.
Notably, on Sunday, a university first-semester student jumped from the third floor of a hostel building to avoid ragging.
The victim student Anand Sarma is a resident of Amguri, Assam and currently receiving treatment at the Aditya Hospital in Dibrugarh.
Three senior students were detained by the Dibrugarh Police in relation to the ragging incident on Sunday night.
The students detained in connection with the case were Simanta Hazarika, Niranjan Thakur and Pranjit Baruah .They were all Padmanath Gohain Baruah Students’ Hostel residents.
