Anti-Drug Ops Leads To Seizure Of 4.8 Kg Heroin In Manipur

Guwahati: A massive consignment of heroin weighing over four kilograms was seized and two smugglers were arrested during an anti-narcotics operation in Manipur on Thursday.

According to reports, the Manipur Police carried out the operation in response to information of a potential smuggling attempt. In Kangpokpi town, authorities set up a checkpoint where the drugs were taken from a passing car.

According to police, a Ford Eco Sport was stopped at the checkpoint and subjected to a regular search. The illegal heroin was discovered inside the automobile while being searched.

The total seizure of heroin weighed around 4.8 kilograms. In addition to four packets full of the drug, the police also recovered 100 soap boxes that contained heroin, according to officials.

They also stated that the price of the heroin shipment as a whole on overseas markets was roughly Rs 7.2 crores.

Meanwhile, the police arrested the two people inside the car on suspicion of carrying illegal substances.

The arrestees have been identified as Thangminle Kipgen and Ngamboi Haokip.

Following the two smugglers’ arrest, authorities seized their personal cell phones in addition to the drugs.
