Guwahati: Eight persons including two women have been arrested for allegedly being involved in drug peddling from different locations of Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Rangkhil Jugli (23), Liza Singh (19), Remmat Jugli (26), Panghom Pangtha (35), Khimsam Ngemu (42), Anupam Singh (30), Tarh Hassang (35) and Hingroi Kenglang (43).
According to reports, suspected contraband items including heroin and opium were also seized by the police.
However, the seized contraband items include 2 gram (approx) brown sugar, 326.95-gram opium, 4.12 gram used opium, 13 syringes and one mobile phone.
The police officials further seized one mobile phone from their possession.
It may be mentioned that two criminal cases have been registered at Changlang Police Station under relevant sections of NDPS Act against the arrested drug peddlers and further investigation into the matter is underway.
