AP: Govt implements rural electrification schemes

Guwahati: Rural electrification projects recommended by the Centre, such as Saubhagya and Deendayal Upadhyay, have been effectively executed by the Arunachal Pradesh government.

According to Arunachal Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister and state’s Power and Non-Conventional Energy Resources Minister, Chowna Mein, the Grameen Ujwala Yojana was launched.

The minister praised Arunachal Pradesh’s massive hydropower potential, predicting that the frontier state would become one of the country’s primary electricity exporters.

Mein said that the power sector would boost the state’s GDP by 2-3 times in the future.

Mein made the claim while speaking at a Guwahati review meeting of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) for the North-Eastern states.

It’s worth noting that RDCC attempts to boost discoms’ operational efficiencies and financial viability.

It entails a mandatory smart metering ecosystem throughout the distribution sector, from electrical feeders to end-users

All projects under the rural electrification plans, according to Mein, would be finished this fiscal year.

The Deputy CM went on to say that people living in the state’s rural villages face challenging hilly terrain and dense forests, which are prone to heavy rains, landslides, and snowfall during the winter season.

Long distribution lines were frequently disrupted as a result of such barriers, and residents of this hilly tract faced a number of challenges.

Arunachal Pradesh is committed to implementing the RDSS, despite the hurdles, according to an official press release.

Mein stated that the power department had already put 24,874 pre-paid energy metres at consumers’ homes in the state capital complex’s Itanagar and Naharlagun municipalities, and revenue collection through the pre-paid energy metres had been highly encouraging.
