APCC to submit list of people who skipped ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’
Guwahati: The president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Bhupen Borah has been asked by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Jitendra Singh Alwar to submit a list of leaders who had skipped the “Bharat Jodo Yatra.”
Bhupen Borah urged the APCC president to provide a list of Congress leaders or office holders who had not participated in the yatra in a letter to the APCC president.
The letter from the AICC general secretary reads, “I have been joining the Yatra from time to time and have noticed that some APCC office bearers, executive members, DCC/Block President/OBs and leaders are not attending this yatra or have not made any efforts to make this historic yatra success.”
“Kindly prepare a list of such office bearers/executive members/leaders and submit immediately after the yatra ends on 15th of December 2022,” it further read.
Notably, Assam’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has now been in full swing for 30 days following the state Congress unit’s performance in the Khumtai constituency.
The president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Bhupen Bora on November 25 claimed that the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government in the state has failed to settle border conflicts with the states in the Northeast.
Speaking to media in Nagaon, Bora stated, “BJP has failed to maintain law and order situation in the state and they are also unable to resolve border concerns.”
In a statement on the “Bharat Jodo Yatra,” he claimed that the large number of supporters and participants in the Yatra is evidence that the BJP’s rule in Assam is coming to an end.
”BJP has failed to fulfil the promises made to the people of Assam,” he added.
