APDCL: Remove Cables Installed Without Permission
Guwahati: The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) claimed that numerous locals in Guwahati have installed cable without authorization and have requested that these wires be taken down.
The electrical department made this statement at a press conference in Guwahati’s Bijulee Bhawan.
Speaking at the press conference, Abhijit Sarma Barua said, “Only a few cables are installed with permission; the rest are installed with prior permission.”
In the interest of the general public’s safety and the preservation of the city’s aesthetic appeal, APDCL requested that whoever had installed these cables without authorization take them down.
They said that if they don’t want to remove the cords they must get permission beforehand otherwise the cables would be removed.
Meanwhile, several cable companies have not renewed their APDCL permits and negotiations surrounding this issue have been made with Ashok Singhal, the state’s minister of housing and urban affairs.
If a permit application is not submitted by November 24th, the cable will be cut off within a week.
The price to put wires on APDCL poles is Rs. 1000.
In addition, the hiring process for Grades III and IV which includes the engineer position will shortly be finished.
They stated that an advertisement for at least 2,000 posts would be placed soon.
According to the department, Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has been given the duty of conducting the examination as of this year and APDCL will no longer conduct recruitment exams.
