APLA Speaker Urges Youth to Act as Pillars of Nation-Building
ITANAGAR: The future of Arunachal Pradesh lies in the hands of its youth, and it is their duty to actively participate in nation-building while safeguarding their rights and fulfilling their responsibilities, Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (APLA) Speaker Tesam Pongte said in a recent address.
Speaking at a lecture on ‘APLA@50 Outreach Connect’ at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Pongte underlined the importance of understanding one’s rights and duties as citizens. The event was part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the state assembly.
Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso shared his reflections on the state’s remarkable journey of development over the past decades. He particularly highlighted the profound impact of improved road infrastructure and connectivity, noting how these developments have not only connected communities but also accelerated economic activities and enhanced accessibility in far-flung areas.
Echoing a similar sentiment, Rajiv Gandhi University Faculty of Law dean in-charge Topi Basar spoke extensively on constitutional rights, duties, and civic responsibility, stressing that an aware and responsible citizenry is the very foundation of a thriving democracy and societal progress. She urged the young generation to be active participants in shaping a just and informed society.
The lecture, organised in a collaborative effort with Rajiv Gandhi University and supported by NERIST, serves as a tribute to five decades of legislative advancement. The initiative aims to foster awareness among young minds about governance, civic responsibility, and the ongoing journey of Arunachal Pradesh towards holistic development. Also present at the event were NERIST Director Prof Narendranath S and APLA additional secretary Agaab Mossang, who also addressed the gathering.
