APSC Cash-for-Jobs Scam: Eleven Government Officials Suspended in Connection
Guwahati, 1st December: In a significant development, eleven government officials, including officers under the ACS and APS categories, have been suspended in connection with the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-jobs scam. The suspended officials reportedly benefited from anomalies and malpractices during the competitive exams held in 2013.
The suspended officials are Kalyan Kumar Das, Nandini Kakati, Faruk Ahmed, Dipankar Lahkar Dutta, Nitumoni Das, Rumir Timungpi, Kul Pradip Bhattacharya, Nilanjan Gogoi, Analjyoti Das, Shahjahan Sarkar, and Aishwarya Jivan Barua. Earlier in the day, four other Assam Civil Services (ACS) officials were also suspended, bringing the total number of suspended officers to 15.
The government’s move to suspend officials comes as part of an intensified probe into the APSC cash-for-jobs scam. The officials were detained and interrogated following allegations related to their involvement in the sensational scam. The suspension reflects the government’s commitment to addressing corruption and malpractices in the recruitment process.
