APSC Cash-for-Jobs Scam Investigation: ADCP Sukanya Das Arrested
Guwahati, 4th December: APS officer ADCP Sukanya Das has been arrested in connection with the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) cash-for-jobs scam that occurred in 2013 and 2014. The arrest follows the summoning of Das by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam Police, which is actively probing the scandal.
The APSC cash-for-jobs scam has led to the suspension of at least 21 civil servant officers. The suspended officers, comprising 11 from the Assam Police Service (APS), four Assam Civil Service (ASC) officers, one Excise Inspector, one ARCS officer, and three Assistant Employment Officers, have all been placed under immediate suspension, as directed by the Government of Assam.
The ongoing investigation into the cash-for-jobs scam has revealed that these officers benefited from irregularities by unlawfully increasing their marks, facilitating their recommendation for appointment. The suspension of all 21 officers is based on the report submitted by former Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma, reflecting the severity of the situation and the government’s commitment to addressing corruption in the recruitment process.
