APSC Scam: Former Principal Controller Detained by SIT

Guwahati, 10th December: In a recent development related to the APSC cash-for-scam that occurred in 2013 and 2014, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police detained former principal controller of examinations, Nanda Babu Singh, from his Silchar residence.

Singh, a close associate of former APSC chairman Rakesh Paul, was brought to the CID office in Guwahati for interrogation.

Nanda Babu Singh is accused of burning around 45,000 answer sheets of APSC preliminary and main exams under Rakesh Paul’s direction.

Moreover, he allegedly appointed his daughter, Minerva Devi Arambam, to the position of ACS through unethical means. Minerva, currently serving as Additional District Commissioner in Karimganj, was summoned by the SIT for interrogation.

The SIT is likely to seek Nanda Babu’s custody, and he is expected to be produced in court. This latest development adds to the series of arrests in connection with the APSC cash-for-job scam, indicating continued efforts to address corruption within the commission.
