Army and Assam Govt Sign a Contract for Ex-Serviceman’s Care at Medical Colleges
Guwahati: The Army and the Assam government signed a contract on Thursday to provide the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) at eight hospitals and medical schools in the state.
The department of ex-servicemen welfare has accepted the empanelment of government medical institutions in Assam with the ECHS, according to defence spokesperson Lt Col Mahender Rawat, according to PTI.
“Memorandum of agreements were signed between the Army and eight government medical colleges and hospitals,” he said in a statement.
The medical colleges and hospitals in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Jorhat, Barpeta, Tezpur, Diphu, and North Lakhimpur will all provide ECHS benefits. This will make it easier for the nearly 1.12 lakh people to receive care without using cash or a cap.
