Army Recovers Ammunition and Explosives in Chirang

In the midst of the drive for a weapons free Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) the Army unit deployed in Chirang along with Assam Police, 210 Cobra Battalion & 6 Battalion SSB unearthed a huge cache of Arms & Ammunition in the Chirang district of Assam. The recovery was made deep inside Chirang Reserve Forest.

A joint operation was launched based on information regarding the presence of illegal arms & ammunition in the forested area of Lal Pathar. After toiling search of 12 days which involved deep search metal detectors, a suspected spot was located. On digging by Army & Police personal a hidden cache of arms & ammunition was found. The cache included large amount of Fire Arms, Ammunition , Grenades and RPG bombs.

The local police , after making the recovery, stated that efforts are on to maint peace & tranquility in the region. Recovered cache could be used to create unrest & tensions in the BTR region of Assam which is on the path towards peace & harmony. This is the second major success of Army & Police in unearthing huge amount of arms & ammunition in the district. The success of the operation will go a long way in preventing any major Anti National activity by militant organisations and it will help to ensure promoting peace & maintaining law & order in the BTR.
