Arrest Made in Imphal West: Man Held for Allegedly Showing Obscene Images to Minor

Imphal: A 23-year-old man has been arrested by Manipur Police for allegedly showing obscene images to a minor girl. The incident, which took place in the Uripok area of Imphal West, has prompted swift police action following a complaint from the victim’s family.

The accused, identified as Thoungamba Keisham, a resident of Wangkhei Mayur Leirak Machin in Imphal East district, was taken into custody on August 2. According to the complaint, Keisham allegedly stopped the minor girl while she was on her way to school and showed her objectionable content on his mobile phone. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and further investigation is currently underway. The prompt response by the police has been praised by local residents.

In a separate development, Manipur’s security forces have stepped up their operations against insurgent groups and narcotics trafficking. Several arrests were made across different districts, with a focus on neutralising threats to public safety. One such operation led to the arrest of Ngangbam Amarjit Singh, 37, a member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group), from his home in Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai, Imphal East. Singh, also known as Nono, is allegedly involved in extortion, criminal intimidation, and has been linked to a past abduction case involving a doctor. The arrests are part of a broader crackdown aimed at restoring peace and order in the state.
