Arunachal Achieves 100% Saturation in ‘Har Ghar Jal’ Scheme

Northeast Desk, 16th February: Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that Arunachal Pradesh has reached a significant milestone by achieving 100% saturation in the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme under the Centre’s Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). This accomplishment makes Arunachal Pradesh the first state in the Northeast and the tenth in the country to attain full saturation under this central government-sponsored initiative, as confirmed by an official from the state’s Public Health Engineering department.

Khandu expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting the dedicated efforts of Team Arunachal in meeting their goals. He credited the successful implementation of the scheme to the combined financial support of the Centre, amounting to Rs 3,965.41 crore, and the state’s contribution of Rs 455.51 crore. This funding ensured the provision of clean and safe piped water to every household in the state.

The chief minister extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance and support, emphasizing the pivotal role played by the Centre’s financial assistance in realizing the goal of providing clean water to every household in Arunachal Pradesh. Khandu reiterated the state’s commitment to overall improvement in the quality of life for its residents, despite facing challenges along the way.

As the first state in the Northeast to fully implement the JJM, Arunachal Pradesh remains determined to enhance the ease of living for its people. Khandu expressed pride in Team Arunachal’s dedication and resilience in overcoming obstacles to serve the community effectively.

Launched in 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water to all rural households in India through individual household tap connections by 2024.
